Jamie Arnold
Chair
Jamie Arnold joined the HAPI Trails board in 2010, shortly after the organization’s founding, and now serves as Board Chair. As a long-tenured leader, he brings deep institutional knowledge, continuity, and a strong commitment to the organization’s mission.
With a degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Policy, Jamie approaches his work with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. His contributions to HAPI Trails span both governance and hands-on support—from grant writing and strategic planning to infrastructure improvements, facility maintenance, and ensuring the day-to-day needs of the horses are met.
Jamie has played a key role in guiding HAPI Trails through periods of growth and transition, helping maintain a focus on responsible stewardship, organizational stability, and long-term sustainability. His ability to step in wherever needed—whether at the board level or out in the field—has made him an invaluable part of the organization.
In addition to his leadership role, Jamie has remained personally connected to the mission through multiple horse adoptions and ongoing support of rescue efforts, reinforcing his belief in giving every horse a second chance.
Outside of HAPI Trails, Jamie lives a life rooted in the mountains, balancing his work in homebuilding with a passion for hunting and the outdoors. He brings a grounded, steady presence to the board and is deeply committed to the continued success of HAPI Trails.

Julie Martin
Vice Chair
Julie Martin is a founding member, past Executive Director, and current Vice Chair of HAPI Trails, where she has played a central role in shaping the organization since its inception in 2009. Her journey into equine rescue began with the adoption of her first horse in 2005, sparking a lifelong commitment to horse welfare and advocacy.
With over 30 years of experience in marketing and advertising, Julie is also co-owner of OPEN Creative, a strategic branding and communications agency. She has leveraged this expertise to elevate HAPI Trails’ visibility and impact, building strong community partnerships and expanding the organization’s reach both locally and nationally.
Julie maintains a formal partnership with the ASPCA and serves on their National Response Team, assisting in large-scale equine rescue operations across the country. She is certified in Equine Investigations through Code 3 Associates and has completed specialized training in the care and handling of horses affected by neglect and abuse.
In addition, Julie is certified through the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) and has led the development of HAPI Trails’ equine-assisted programs. She is the driving force behind several cornerstone initiatives, including Clyde’s Sidekicks for senior equines, the Wellness Liaison Program, and a series of educational clinics featuring internationally recognized professionals.
Julie brings a strong combination of leadership, program development, and strategic vision to HAPI Trails. She remains deeply committed to advancing equine welfare while creating meaningful opportunities for community connection, education, and healing through horses.

Kimberly Myers
Treasurer
Kimberly Myers is a founding member of HAPI Trails and is returning to the board as Treasurer after previously serving in the role for over 13 years. She brings a deep understanding of the organization’s history, financial structure, and long-term sustainability, along with a lifelong dedication to equine welfare.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a focus on Veterinary Medicine and Farm Animal Management, and her background in horsemanship began early through years of involvement in 4-H, collegiate judging teams, and western riding programs.
Her professional experience spans multiple areas of the equine industry, including managing feed stores, overseeing horse boarding facilities, and operating a horse and livestock hauling business. She holds a Class A CDL and has a strong, practical understanding of horse care, including managing her own herd of senior horses that require specialized daily medical care and nutrition.
Kim also worked alongside a highly respected equine veterinarian and past president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, gaining valuable insight into equine welfare standards, veterinary protocols, and industry best practices.
Throughout her tenure with HAPI Trails, Kim played a key role in financial oversight and organizational leadership, including the development of accurate profit and loss statements and balance sheets, as well as contributing to strategic planning, donor engagement, and overall sustainability. Her experience also includes collaborating with local law enforcement on welfare cases, coordinating large-scale feed programs, facilitating safe transport for rescue and adoption, and working closely with veterinarians on both preventative and ongoing care.
Kim is deeply committed to advocating for abused, neglected, and abandoned horses and is proud to support HAPI Trails’ mission of giving horses a second chance.
Pamela Jacobs
Secretary
Pam Jacobs joins HAPI Trails as Secretary, bringing strong organizational, administrative, and governance support to the board. While she didn’t grow up around horses, her volunteer experience with HAPI Trails has sparked a genuine appreciation for equine care and the organization’s mission.
Before relocating to Teton Valley with her husband, Todd, and their two dogs, Pam built a successful career in the aerospace industry, serving as a Buyer for both McDonnell Douglas Corporation and Boeing Aircraft Company, where she managed military and commercial contracts.
Pam later transitioned into the nonprofit sector, beginning as a volunteer with a day program for individuals living with dementia. She quickly advanced to Executive Director, where she led the organization through state licensing and county inspections, oversaw staff and volunteers, and managed marketing and community relations. She went on to build another program from the ground up—guiding it through licensing, developing daily programming, securing grant funding, and ultimately serving as its Executive Director.
Her work also included close collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association, where she served as a certified class facilitator, support group leader, and fundraising team member. In addition, Pam has contributed her leadership to two other nonprofit boards.
At HAPI Trails, Pam plays a key role in ensuring accurate record keeping, supporting board coordination, and maintaining compliance with nonprofit best practices. She brings a thoughtful, experienced perspective to board decision-making and is proud to support the organization’s mission of giving horses a second chance.

Program Coordinator
Now Hiring | May–September
HAPI Trails is currently seeking a Program Coordinator to support our day-to-day operations and help strengthen our equine welfare and community programs during the busy season.
This seasonal, part-time position plays an important role in coordinating horse care and training logistics, supporting volunteer engagement, and assisting with clinics, events, and adoption readiness. The Program Coordinator works closely with the Board of Directors and key program leads—including Wellness, Volunteer, Adoption, and Training—to ensure consistency, communication, and high-quality care across all areas of the organization.
This is a hands-on role that blends organization, leadership, and time spent in the barn. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with horses, enjoys being part of a collaborative team, and is passionate about supporting rescue, rehabilitation, and second chances.
This position also offers the opportunity to help develop and pilot a small program aligned with HAPI Trails’ mission—whether focused on youth, education, wellness, or horsemanship.
Seasonal compensation ranges from $6,000–$10,000, with additional opportunities for professional development through clinics and educational programming.

HAPI Trails Primary Veterinary Service
Circle S Mobile Vet has been a trusted partner of HAPI Trails since our founding in 2009. Their dedicated team has gone above and beyond to provide expert, compassionate care for every horse that comes through our program—supporting horses of all ages, conditions, and backgrounds with professionalism and heart.
As active members of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), Circle S has also helped us access critical resources and best practices that are vital to the recovery and ongoing wellness of our equine residents. From emergency interventions to routine care and complex case consultations, their involvement has been instrumental to our success.
Circle S is more than a veterinary provider—they are a cornerstone of our wellness team and an essential part of the HAPI Trails mission. We are deeply grateful for their expertise, responsiveness, and unwavering support.
Christina Heart
Board Member Emerita - Accounting
Christina is one of the founding members of HAPI Trails and played a pivotal role in establishing the organization as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Her leadership and expertise were instrumental in building a strong administrative foundation—ensuring HAPI’s long-term sustainability and compliance with nonprofit regulations.
A lifelong equestrian and accomplished horsewoman, Christina has trained and ridden in both English and Western disciplines and spent time wrangling at a large guest ranch in Wyoming. She is a certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Reiki Master Teacher, Sound Therapy and Energy Medicine Practitioner, and Interfaith Minister. For over three decades, she has worked in the healing arts, specializing in the powerful connection between horses and humans.
In addition to her equine and healing work, Christina brings extensive experience as a business consultant for both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Her guidance helped HAPI Trails grow with structure and integrity—supporting financial transparency, timely reporting, and strategic planning. Though no longer an active board member, Christina continues to be a valued advisor and passionate supporter of HAPI’s mission.
Alex Huninik
Board Member Emerita - Farrier
Alex serves on the HAPI Trails Advisory Committee, bringing a lifetime of hands-on experience and deep expertise in equine care. Originally from England, Alex began training as a farrier at the age of 17 and has worked professionally with horses ever since.
Raised in an equestrian family, Alex grew up immersed in the sport alongside his two brothers, competing in a wide range of disciplines including Mounted Games, Horseball, Eventing, Show Jumping, and Tetrathlon. This diverse background has shaped his well-rounded approach to horsemanship and horse welfare.
Since relocating to Teton Valley in 2012, Alex has become a valued part of the local equine community. As a professional farrier, he plays an important role in supporting the health and soundness of HAPI Trails horses, providing thoughtful, consistent hoof care that is essential to each horse’s rehabilitation and long-term success.
In his advisory role, Alex offers practical insight, technical expertise, and a grounded perspective that supports HAPI Trails’ commitment to high-quality care and successful outcomes for every horse. When he’s not working, he can be found exploring the valley on horseback, dirt bike, or mountain bike.
Jen Carter
Board Member Emerita - Volunteers
Jen Carter is a founding member of HAPI Trails and served as Board Chair for 15 years, playing a foundational role in building the organization from the ground up. Her leadership, vision, and deep understanding of horse-human relationships have helped shape HAPI Trails into the respected rescue and rehabilitation program it is today.
With a master’s degree in Community Counseling, Jen brings both clinical expertise and heartfelt compassion to her work. She has integrated her knowledge of mental health with her love of horses, helping to guide the development of HAPI’s Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy programming. She continues to work in private practice in Driggs, Idaho, and is an active member of the Teton Valley Mental Health Coalition.
Jen’s impact extends beyond strategy—she has personally adopted and cared for several rescue horses over the years and remains a trusted resource for horse handling, volunteer guidance, and community engagement. Although she recently stepped down from her role as Board Chair, Jen remains a dedicated member of the board and a steadfast advocate for HAPI’s mission and the horses at its heart.
Teresa Schwarzwalter
Equine Wellness Volunteer
Teresa Schwarzwalter joined HAPI Trails as Wellness Liasion in 2025, after two years of fostering some of our most challenging rescue horses. She now leads our Horse Wellness Liaison Program, helping oversee preventative care, advising on veterinary communications, and supporting volunteers in tracking each horse’s health and progress.
Teresa holds a degree in Veterinary Technology from National College in Rapid City, SD. After moving to Victor in 1996, she worked at Driggs Veterinary Clinic, volunteered with the Teton Valley Humane Society, and later managed the organization. She now serves as Director of Imaging at Teton Valley Health.
Her equine experience spans decades—from volunteering with the Jackson Mounted Patrol and 4-H programs to working at Robinson Horse Ranch. Teresa has personally owned and cared for multiple senior and special-needs horses, and brings a thoughtful, experienced approach to every horse in her care at HAPI Trails.
