A little History
Founded in 2009 during the economic downturn, HAPI Trails was created to respond to a growing number of horses in our region that needed care and a safe place to land. What began as a small local effort has grown into a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to rehabilitating and re-homing horses into loving, compassionate, and permanent homes.
Today, HAPI Trails provides care for approximately 10–20 horses at a time. We intentionally maintain limits on the number of horses in our program so that every horse receives the time, attention, and resources needed to thrive—including quality nutrition, veterinary care, farrier services, training, and safe shelter.
While our primary focus is on horses with a history of abuse, neglect, or abandonment, we also assist in cases where owners can no longer care for their horses due to health, financial hardship, or major life changes. In addition to our rescue and rehabilitation work, we support responsible horse ownership within our community by helping connect horses with appropriate homes, sharing resources, and providing guidance when possible.
At HAPI Trails, we believe every horse deserves the opportunity for a healthy, safe, and meaningful life. Through compassionate care, responsible stewardship, and the support of our volunteers and community, we work to ensure that horses continue to be an important and valued part of life in Teton Valley.
