HAPI Trails Continues Operations Following Leadership Transition; Board Commits to Transparency and Animal Welfare

Victor, ID — HAPI Trails Horse Adoption Program, Inc. announced today that the organization will continue to operate and serve Teton Valley following a leadership transition. The Board of Directors confirms the former Executive Director is no longer employed by or affiliated with HAPI Trails and notes that it is aware of inaccurate public statements concerning the former Executive Director’s separation.

“Our priority remains the health and safety of the horses in our care and the financial integrity of HAPI Trails,” said Mara Kingscott, Board President. “We are committed to transparency, strong recordkeeping, and accountable governance as we move forward.”

To reinforce that commitment, the Board is taking immediate steps including: engaging independent advisors to review and strengthen financial controls and recordkeeping; updating governance and financial policies; and enhancing public reporting so donors and the community can understand how funds are used. These steps are intended to strengthen the organization so it can continue its mission.

HAPI Trails’ immediate priorities remain the care and responsible placement of animals, supporting volunteers, and maintaining services to the community. The Board is working with local and regional partner organizations, veterinarians, and foster families to ensure each animal’s needs are met.

A community meeting to share more information and answer questions is scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2026 at 6:00 PM MDT. Community members interested in volunteering, fostering, or helping with placements are encouraged to contact [email protected].
